Dr Samuel Kaldas
Dr Samuel Kaldas is a Lecturer in Philosophy with broad interests across philosophy and theology. His doctoral dissertation was on the Cambridge Platonists, important figures in the development of contemporary philosophy of religion. Dr Kalda is a Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame Australia and was the recipient of the University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize, University of Sydney Honours Scholarship, the Walter Reid Memorial Prize, the Lucy Firth Publication Prize, and the G.H.S. and I.R. Lightroller Scholarship.
Dr Kaldas holds a special interest in Moral and Political Philosophy, and his research touches upon the experiences of diaspora communities outside their traditional homelands. Dr Kaldas's work on forgiveness, suffering, and moral philosophy provides tools for individuals and communities coping with displacement, trauma, or cultural marginalisation. His research offers philosophical and theological frameworks that address displacement, cultural preservation, and moral resilience. His works in moral reasoning and forgiveness has offered valuable insights for individuals and communities navigating displacement, integration, and identity formation in new homelands.
